story time!
when I was like, 13, I had this sudden realization that the power dynamic between parent and child was really mostly reliant on the child buying into it (which. is not quite as true as seemed apparent at the time, but. 13.), like, what are you going to do, ground me for not obeying my grounding??? and did this really bratty thing telling this to my parents, one of them anyway, I think my dad? but I’m not sure which. and I must have pissed them off so much that they lost their temper and told me that yeah, that was true, to an extent, but when kids absolutely stopped listening to their parents a judge usually ended up taking them away and that stopped my bratting right in its tracks.
which I think is hilarious.
but apparently not so much???
idk, it was a lot less traumatic than hearing my mom tell my dad that the house was filthy and if child services saw it they’d take us away.
