friendly reminder that the accepted definition of bisexuality by the bisexual community is: liking the same and other genders. The definition is not: Liking cis men and women. Thank you.
1000 times this.
Ok but what is the difference between bi and pan? Are they just the same but a different word?
kind of! The definition of pansexual is liking all genders. It just depends on what you feel more comfortable with!
What you are talking about is the difference between Community Identity Labels and Personal Identity Labels
▼ Community Identity Labels such as Bisexual (or Lesbian or Gay or Straight, or Queer, etc.) describe our commonalities and give us a space to be together.
▼ Personal Identity Labels (such as Ambisexual, Pansexual, Multisexual, Polysexual, Omnisexual, Fluid and many others) vary by things such as geography as well as age, racial/ethnic background, gender, educational attainment, socioeconomic factors and other demographic differences and/or may may reflect a particular attitude towards ideas such as Gender. They serve a vital function for individuals: they describe my difference and give me a space in which to be unique.
