Okay, which is it? Duck tape or duct tape? The internet seems conflicted. I say it duck tape, but that makes exactly zero sense. And yes, I am emotionally prepared to have my entire life turned upside down either way.
The problem is that the phrase “duct tape” has two unvoiced consonants in immediate proximity to a second voiced T and most people aren’t going to bother with that first unvoiced T, it just gets merged for the sake of euphony and speed.
But then other people hear the homonym “duck” and everyone gets confused.
also there is a brand of duct tape CALLED duck tape, probably to capitalize on this specific confusion :P
