Some people can speak easily.

Some people always have difficulty speaking.

Some people never speak at all.

Some people can speak, but at a cost that’s not worth it.

Some people are better off communicating in other ways.

Some people speak sometimes, and type other times.

Some people have words all the time; some don’t.

Some people can speak fluidly, but only on certain topics. (Just like how one can be fluent in some topics in a foreign language, but be unable to read the news).

Some people lose speech at certain levels of stress.

Some people rely on hand movements and stimming in order to find words.

Some people have a monotone and convey tone through motion.

Some people make a lot of mistakes with words, and rely heavily on tone to make themselves understood.

Some people rely heavily on scripts, and only sound normal when they stay on-script.

Some people use phrases from television.

Some people communicate by repeating themselves, and tend to be perceived as not communicating.

Some people say a lot of words they don’t understand, and are perceived as having meant them.

Some people substitute one word for another a lot, and don’t always realize it.

Some people can answer questions even when they’re having trouble initiating speech.

Some people who find speech easy sound odd.

Some people who find speech difficult sound normal.

You don’t really know how someone communicates until you’ve communicated with them substantially, and even then, you only know in the context you’ve communicated in. Appearances can be deceiving.

And it’s important to be aware that all of these things exist.

Wax play is wonderful! It gives the opportunity to turn your sub or bottom into your personal canvas and form them into a work of art. Through out the span of a few posts, I will be giving you the lowdown on wax play and hopefully others will chime in with their personal experience and advice.

Your tools of choice:

There are several types of candles out there, but the safest to start off with is paraffin. According to a post by Norische on The Iron Gate, here are the other candle types and their melting points:

Paraffin 120 – 145 degrees

Low temp wax 120 – 125 degrees

Standard jar candles 125 – 135 degrees

Standard pillar candles 135 – 140 degrees

Bee’s wax candles 140 – 155 degrees

Oil based candles 165 – 190 degrees

Gel jar candles 165 – 180 degrees

As mentioned above, paraffin’s melting point is at a safe range for beginners to start off with. Keep in mind that you’ll want to start off with a colorless wax just so you and your sub or bottom knows what it feels like. I’ll discuss this more in the next post in the series.

Colored waxes can increase the temperature of the wax slightly, especially if the wax is colored with paint and not dye. If you’d like to add some color and stay on the safe side, I’ve read that melting crayons with plain wax will do the job just fine and you can achieve this by using a crockpot.

Stay away from:

Scented candles - Save your expensive Yankee Candles to put around your room to enjoy in other ways.

Gel candles

Metallic colored candles

Wicks that are not string (cotton is normally used, I believe)

Anything made from animal fat

Painted candles

If you’re ever unsure of a candle’s make up, play it safe and don’t use it. You’re better off spending some money on candles that will make your experience pleasurable and not downright painful. There are plenty of adult sites (Edensfantasy, LoveHoney, etc.) that sells candles for sensation play and wax play, just be sure to read reviews before you purchase.

“Yes,” [Natasha] says. “It’s Dr Ross.” “And now you want to go find her and recruit her,” Clint says, just to get it out in the air. You have to admire Natasha, really. No matter what or who she runs into, she will obsessively hunt until she finds a way to neutralize them. And she’s good at thinking outside the box and knowing that “neutralize” doesn’t necessarily mean “kill, concuss or capture.”!fic, site:archiveofourown, fandom:theavengers, fandom:marvelcinematicuniverse, rating:teenandupaudiences, pairing:clint.barton/natasha.romanov, pairing:bruce.banner/betty.ross, pairing:pepper.potts/tony.stark, ~author:lalaietha, note:series, series/universe:marvel:toseeyouthere, character:natasha.romanov, character:betty.ross, character:clint.barton

In honor of the first day of BFRB Awareness Week, I made a powerpoint of an overview of Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs). Keep in mind that this is just an overview.

As someone with trichotillomania I really want my followers to understand how important BFRB Awareness Week is to me. I have hardly seen any good informational posts about it other than this one which does a good job at generally describing BFRBs. Please read through these slides, visit the sources provided, and reblog to educate others and spread the word!

trich.org is so good, they sell lots of stuff to help you with trichotillomania, including cute spinner rings.

Benefits to having a best friend: someone you can talk to about anything, including the hot boy you’re dating, trashy Bravo television, and great sex. At least, that’s what Kurt and Blaine discover when their friendship evolves into friends with benefits. What could be better? AKA friends with benefits who fall in love. Notes: No heavy Kadam or Seblaine at all. In fact, Sebastian doesn’t even make an appearance other than reference. The long and the short of it is that I love Klaine and wanted to write them having lots of banter, sex, and learning about each other in new ways.!fic, site:archiveofourown, fandom:glee, rating:explicit, pairing:blaine.anderson/kurt.hummel, pairing:blaine.anderson/sebastian.smythe, pairing:adam.crawford/kurt.hummel, ~author:judearaya, awesome, note:series, series/universe:glee:theotherside, entertaining, trope:friends-with-benefits, genre:au, au:justalittledifferent
