I don’t know how many of you know about the Yuletide fanfic exchange (and I’m going to feel very silly if it’s all of you), but just in case not:
Yuletide is a fanfic exchange focused on rare fandoms. For Yuletide purposes “rare” basically boils down to “has less than 1000 works over 1000 words, complete, in English, between ff.net and AO3 combined.” (There are some added considerations for complicated fandoms, but that’s basically it.) For examples, I’m nominating Elfquest (which has a couple hundred works), Redwall (which has a few hundred too), and the Juniper series by Monica Furlong (which has, as far as I can tell, one story). Last year I wrote what appears to be the only fic anywhere for Illusion by Paula Volsky. It’s a great deal of fun, and it’s lovely to write or receive a fic for a fandom so small you never thought you’d see fic for it.
I mention this now even though we’ve barely entered autumn, never mind Christmas, because right now is when you can nominate fandoms to be requested/offered. You can nominate up to three fandoms, with up to four characters each; those fandoms/characters are what people will use to specify what they want to get and what they’re willing to write during signups. So if you want to be able to nominate fandoms and characters for the exchange, now’s the time! Nominations close at 6pm UTC tomorrow.
