my problem with this ~natural cure~ stuff is:
it’s bullshit like 99.99999999% of the time and I have seen people with serious illnesses get fleeced by “naturopaths” or w/e who were like “sure you can treat your serious illness with no doctors and a raw food diet” to the extreme detriment of their health, THIS SHIT HURTS PEOPLE
sure there are some naturopathic things that work for depression and anxiety (I used to treat my own anxiety with valerian, for example) but like, do you know what makes those work, it’s c h e m i c a l s, all matter in the universe is chemicals, it’s chemicals all the way down (not to mention there is still a proper use for those naturopathic remedies, things you can’t combine them with, etc)
there are a million legitimate critiques of the pharmaceutical industry but “you should be taking fruit smoothies instead of your medication” is not one of them and people need to stop pretending that it is and focus on the actual issues with the industry
EVERY PERSON with mental and/or physical illness has heard about approximately 193,200,340,201 “natural cures” for their condition(s) and is just trying to make the best decision they can given their resources and all of these ~helpful suggestions~ bleed into each other to form one giant sentiment of “you could just get better if you tried hard enough” and I guarantee you we are all sick to death of it.
